St Helens Skills Academy can support you to develop a career in Health and Social Care.  Providing opportunities, experience and career pathways.

The Academy works with a number of local partners, education providers and health & care employers to help you choose the best offer to suit your needs.

This aim of St Helens Cares Skills Academy is around offering local people as much support as possible to become job ready; enabling our residents to feel empowered to take jobs in health and social care.  Our aim is to inspire them to embark on a successful employment journey with future opportunities to move across both health and care sectors.

This ground breaking Health and Care Skills Academy will operate as a hub with local partners in the Knowsley and Halton areas to help people to develop the skills and knowledge they need to find jobs within health and social care.

Talking Heads - Caring as a Career

St Helens Care Health & Care Careers Expo

On Saturday 8th July 2023 St Helens Cares facilitated an exciting new initiative to encourage local people to learn more about the wide range of health and care roles open to them.

Held at the Education and Training Centre on the Whiston Hospital site, our Health & Care partners came together to showcase the types of roles available within Health & Social Care and providing an opportunity to promote their offer in helping local people to develop the practical skills, in-depth knowledge and personal attributes that will lead to local jobs being filled by dedicated, confident and capable health and social care professionals.

The EXPO offered delegates the opportunity to follow a patient journey through an immersive experience; speaking with real people who work in health and social care to find out about their experiences; and speaking to training providers and services around their local recruitment processes.

The plan is this will be the first of many Expos so watch this space!
